How to change your registered office address with ASIC

Updated 23 October 2026

Every Australian company has a registered office on the ASIC register. When it changes, you have to tell ASIC. Here’s how.

Before you start

  • The new address must be a street address. A PO Box can’t be a registered office.
  • Get the occupier’s consent if your company won’t occupy the new address. MailStreet customers get a signed consent letter in their dashboard.
  • Have your corporate key handy. ASIC issues it to every company, and you need it to lodge changes online.

The steps

  1. Log in to ASIC’s online services.
  2. Choose to change your company’s details, and select the registered office address.
  3. Enter the new address exactly as it should appear, and the date the change takes effect.
  4. Confirm the occupier has consented, then submit.

The deadline

Companies must generally notify ASIC within 28 days of a change. Late notifications attract a late fee, so don’t sit on it. Check ASIC’s website for the current rules and fees.

Changing your principal place of business too?

It’s a separate field. Only change it if the new address is genuinely where your business is mainly carried on.

After ASIC: update everything else

The ABR, your bank, your website and your invoices won’t update themselves. Use our change of address checklist.
