A Melbourne business address for your Sydney business
If your customers never visit and you mostly need somewhere official for ASIC, the ABR and your mail, the address doesn't have to be in Sydney. Ours is in Preston, Melbourne, and every letter lands on your phone.
Searching for a virtual office in Sydney? This isn’t a Sydney address. It’s a Melbourne one, which suits Sydney businesses that don’t mind which city their paperwork goes to. If you need a Sydney address, the Sydney options are compared below.
An address and mail service. No desk or room is included.
The rules
Why a Melbourne address works for a Sydney company
ASIC is a national regulator, and its rule for a registered office is short: it must be a physical street address in Australia, it can’t be a PO Box, and it doesn’t have to be where your company does business. If you don’t occupy the address yourself, you need the occupier’s written consent, and we give you a signed consent letter when you’re approved.
Registered office: MailStreet, Preston VIC 3072. ASIC’s letters come to us and you see them the same day.
Mailing address on the ABR, invoices and your website: MailStreet, so your Sydney home stays off them.
Principal place of business: wherever you really work. You can use our address, but it’s up to you to make sure that’s accurate for your business.

Getting your mail to Sydney
Most letters never need to travel: we photograph the envelope and scan what you ask for. When you do
want the original, here’s what Australia Post publishes for interstate post.

Postage from (inc GST)
Regular letter
4–7 business days

Priority letter
up to 4 business days

From Australia Post’s delivery speeds and letter prices pages, checked October 2026. Australia Post says actual times depend on the exact locations and how busy its network is.
Express Post, next business day
Preston (3072) sits inside Australia Post’s Melbourne next-business-day network (3000–3207), and so do Sydney postcodes 1000–1920, 2000–2234, 2555–2574, 2740–2786. That covers the CBD and much of the metro area.
What forwarding costs you
Business Address: postage plus $2 handling, so one regular letter on its own is $3.85. Pro: postage at cost, no handling fee. You approve a quote before anything is sent.
Same clock as Melbourne
NSW and Victoria share a time zone and both use daylight saving, so “scan requests before 2pm” means 2pm your time too.

Cheaper than us
Bustle Studios’ Surry Hills address costs less per month than we do and can be a registered office. If a cheap Sydney address is all you need, it’s worth a look. Check how its per-letter handling fees add up against your mail volume.
Where we fit
From $55/mo inc GST, month to month, with a photo of every envelope, and 10 scans a month on Business Address. CBD tower addresses from The Executive Centre and Servcorp cost two to four times as much, and bundle extras such as coworking time.
When you should get a Sydney address instead
Clients come to you. If people visit, they need a door in Sydney. Ours are in Melbourne.
You want to show up on Google Maps in Sydney. A Melbourne address can’t do that, and we don’t sell Google listings.
Your customers expect a local postcode. Some Sydney buyers read a Melbourne address as “not from here”. If that costs you work, pay for the local one.
You need originals fast and often. Contracts to sign in ink every week are easier with an address you can walk to.
A licence, tender or lender asks for a NSW address. Check its rules before you choose.
Who it suits
Online stores, software and remote consultancies whose customers never visit.
Founders who moved to Sydney and want to keep their company’s Melbourne address.
People who split their week between Melbourne and Sydney.
Anyone who needs a registered office and mail, and doesn’t want to pay for a CBD postcode.

Use your address on Google Maps, provided you meet Google's eligibility rules (signage, staffed hours, meeting clients on site). We'll help with your sign and video verification, but we can't guarantee Google approves your listing.
All prices include GST. Companies and trusts pay a one-off $15 verification fee. Your address is released once ID checks pass; if they don’t, we refund you in full. No desks or workspace on any plan. Business Address and Pro don’t include a Google Maps listing; you get our service-area profile guide instead.
Questions from Sydney businesses
Can a company run from Sydney have its registered office in Victoria?
ASIC's rule is that a registered office must be a physical street address in Australia, not a PO Box, and it doesn't have to be where your company does business. The occupier also has to consent in writing, which we provide. Your company's state of registration is a separate detail on the ASIC register; if you're unsure how it applies to you, ask your accountant.
Will I miss ASIC or ATO letters if I'm in Sydney?
Every envelope is photographed the day it arrives and shows up in your dashboard, so you see official mail on the day we receive it, wherever you are. Ask us to scan it and you can read it without waiting for the post.
How long does forwarded mail take to reach Sydney?
Australia Post estimates 4–7 business days for regular interstate letters, up to 4 business days for Priority and 1–3+ business days for Express Post. Central Sydney postcodes are in Australia Post's Express Post next-business-day network, and so is Preston.
What do I put as my principal place of business?
Wherever you actually run the business. If that's your Sydney home or office, that's usually the honest answer. You can use our address as your principal place of business, but it's up to you to make sure that's accurate for your business.
Will a Melbourne address help me on Google in Sydney?
No. We don't sell Google listings, and a Melbourne address won't put you on Google Maps in Sydney. If a Sydney Maps listing matters to you, you need a Sydney location that meets Google's rules.
Can I switch to a Sydney address later?
Yes. Business Address and Pro are month to month, so you can cancel from your dashboard any time. Remember to update ASIC and the ABR with the new address when you move.
